News Group Set-up

The following instructions explain how to setup newsgroup software.

Microsoft Internet Explorer ver.6.0
Netscape 7.0

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6.0

• Double-click Internet Explorer icon on desktop
• Select (Tools) from the menu along the top, and select (Mail & News), then "Read News"
• Microsoft Outlook Express will open
• Enter your Real Name in the first box and select "Next"
• The next box prompts you to enter your e-mail address (username@memlane.com), select "Next"
• In the Internet News Server Name, enter the following: news.memlane.com, all in lowercase
• Select "Next" and "Finish"

Netscape 7.0

• From the Edit menu, choose Preferences. Click the "Newsgroups Server" option. Then click add.
• Type in news.memlane.com, all in lower case.To modify the information for a server: click Edit. To remove a server: click Delete.
• Click Set as Default to specify a server as the default.
• At Newsgroup folder, enter the path name of a local directory where your newsgroup server can download messages.
• Specify whether to limit the number of messages copied to your local machine when you open a newsgroup.
• Click OK. Note: You can have multiple news servers.
